I'm sorry for the lack of depth my posts have had lately, but I have spent the last day catching up on life and the internet, and this is one of those things that just needs to be said.
Since when is squatting cool?
Incase you haven't seen this yet, the new "thing to do" is owling.
Basically owling is squatting and posing like an owl, and posting the pictures online. The sillier places you squat, the "cooler" you are.
This is a real thing people. I read about it in the Washington Post for crying outloud. It is the new planking, which I didn't understand either, but this is getting out of control.
I am all for doing crazy weird things, but I am 97% sure that there is a person whose goal in life is to make people look as stupid as possible, and thus came up with a way to get them to squat in public for no apparently good reason.

Should this photo be called
Owling
or
How to Use a Squatty Potty
???
I just don't get it. If you do, please explain. Maybe everyone is losing their mind. Maybe people spend so much time in front of the computer that they don't know there are actual fun and cool things to do in the world. Or maybe I'm just getting old.
I should stop there, but with all that said, I must say that for some unexplainable reason, I think this guy is cool.

Maybe he started it all and everyone wants to be like him. I don't know. I'm just so confused.

they're just practising for parenthood?? Since I have really bad knee problems, I notice when I'm squatting. . .and I do it a lot. Like ALL the time
i don't get it either. planking? owling? just seems like a lot of dead brain cells to me. ha. or maybe i am getting old.
haha I do not understand it either! I haven't heard of this one yet.
I like to have fun and do silly things, but owling and planking are not in that category for me. lol
wow. what's next? i don't think i want to know. but to answer your question, i think the picture should be called #2. they do look like they're using the bathroom.
It's common ground, a silly way to feel like you're part of something, however ridiculous.
Now it seems like there's a race to come up with the next big thing, I've seen people trying to make "ducking" a thing now. It's another way to say "I am part of this culture. See?"
Next thing you know we're going to start wearing cropped pants and poking holes in our ears. ;)
You are hilarious. I must say i have not heard of this. But thanks for the warning because that will explain future odd facebook pictures I'm sure. Yea I think somebody is laughing their hiney off watching all of these crazy people.
I would like to think that the ridiculous things I use to do had some meaning or atleast some fun/excitement factor to them, and I just can't see how this has any of that. Of course, most likely when I was young and did ridiculous things, "older" people didn't get it either. Yep, this probably just means I'm getting old!
Squatting or owling will probably be something that my kids talk about with affection years from now about the good old days like when I think about singing with my hairbrush to Michael Jackson and all things 80s music. Others- jellies, leg warmers, silly bands, beanie babies. I think I might come up with a list with my kids of all their favorite trends and then come up with my own. This is funny and I've yet to see anyone owl, but when I do I'll be ready and probably give he/she a high 5!
